LKR Innovation House in Østbirk, Denmark is a compelling example of how existing buildings can be transformed into modern environments for innovation, development, and wellbeing. Designed by PRAKSIS ARKITEKTER for VELUX, the project converts former industrial halls into a contemporary innovation hub with offices, workshops, laboratories, and collaborative workspaces gathered under one roof.

At the core of the project is a clear architectural ambition: to preserve and enhance the qualities already present in the original structure. Rather than building new, the design team chose to work with the existing halls and reshape them into a flexible, future-oriented setting defined by reuse, daylight, and a strong spatial identity.

A project where windows play a central role

In a transformation project like LKR Innovation House, window solutions are not simply technical components. They are part of the architectural language and essential to how the building is experienced from both inside and outside.

All vertical windows for the project were delivered by Krone Vinduer. The windows contribute to the facade’s rhythm and character while helping bring natural light deep into the building. In this way, they support both the visual identity of the project and the everyday indoor experience for the people who use it.

For Krone, projects like LKR Innovation House reflect an approach where quality, function, and architectural intent must work together. The right window solution must respond to the building’s design vision while also meeting the practical requirements of a complex and ambitious project.
